Fire TV Stick remote used to install an IPTV app

Before you start: check your Fire TV runs Fire OS (Settings > My Fire TV > About). Devices running Amazon’s newer Vega OS cannot install apps from outside the Amazon Appstore, so this method does not work on them. More on models in IPTV on the Fire TV Stick.

Step 1: install the Downloader app

  1. From the Fire TV home screen, select Find (the magnifying glass), then Search.
  2. Type Downloader and select the app by AFTVnews (orange icon).
  3. Select Download or Get. Do not open it yet.

Step 2: turn on developer options

  1. Go to Settings > My Fire TV > About.
  2. Highlight your device name (for example Fire TV Stick 4K Max) and press Select seven times.
  3. You will see “No need, you are already a developer” or “You are now a developer”.

Step 3: allow Downloader to install apps

  1. Go back to Settings > My Fire TV > Developer options.
  2. Select Install unknown apps.
  3. Find Downloader and switch it ON.

Leave this off for every other app.

Step 4: download your IPTV player

  1. Open Downloader and allow access to files if asked.
  2. In the address box, enter the official download address of your chosen player, or our verified Downloader code: verified Downloader code or official URL for the recommended player.
  3. Select Go. When the download finishes, select Install, then Done.
  4. When Downloader offers to delete the installation file, choose Delete. It saves space and the app stays installed.

Never use Downloader codes from random videos or forums. Codes can point anywhere. See Downloader codes explained.

Step 5: sign in

  1. Open the player from Your Apps & Channels. Hold the Home button and choose Apps to find it.
  2. Choose Login with Xtream Codes API (in IPTV Smarters Pro) or Add playlist > Xtream Codes (in TiviMate).
  3. Enter the server URL, username and password from your welcome message, exactly as written.
  4. Wait while channels, films and the TV guide load. The first time can take a minute or two.

If something does not work

  • “App not installed”: there is not enough storage. Delete unused apps and the downloaded installation file.
  • Login rejected: recheck the server URL, including any http:// and port number. See login errors.
  • Buffering: see buffering fixes.
  • Anything else: IPTV not working on Firestick.

Frequently asked questions

I can't find Developer options on my Fire TV Stick. What do I do?

Go to Settings > My Fire TV > About, highlight your device name (for example "Fire TV Stick 4K") and press the select button seven times. A message says you are now a developer, and Developer options appears under My Fire TV.

Is it safe to turn on "Install unknown apps"?

It is safe if you only install apps from official sources. Turn it on for Downloader only, and never install files from links you were sent by strangers.

Do I need to do this again after a Fire TV update?

Usually not. Your apps and settings stay in place. Occasionally an update resets the unknown-apps permission, so just switch it back on.

Try it on your own TV first

Set up the trial on the device you actually watch on, then decide.
