No regular 8K TV channels exist in the UK
Broadcasting in 8K needs four times the data of 4K, plus new cameras, encoders and delivery systems. UK broadcasters have not launched regular 8K channels. Most live TV, including premium sport, is produced in HD, with selected events and films in 4K.
So when a service advertises “8K IPTV”, one of these is usually true:
- “8K” is just part of the brand name. It describes nothing.
- A handful of demo videos are in 8K, but the channels are not.
- The claim is simply untrue.

Our 8K Ultra Max plan
Our 8K Ultra Max plan streams in 8K where the channel or title is available in 8K. Most live TV is still HD or 4K, so the plan does not turn everything into 8K. If you do not have an 8K setup, 4K Ultra is likely to be the better value.
What 8K needs at home
To see 8K, you need:
- an 8K TV
- a device that decodes and outputs 8K. Most streaming sticks top out at 4K
- broadband around 50 to 100 Mbps per stream, sustained.
What matters more than the number
- Stable streams at peak times. A steady HD picture beats a 4K one that buffers.
- Frame rate and bitrate. 50fps sport at a good bitrate looks better than a starved 4K stream.
- HDR, on titles that support it.
- Licensing. Services trading on big numbers like “8K, 30,000 channels” are often unlicensed. See how to choose a provider.
